“PROVIDING A BEAUTIFUL FINISH THAT LASTS”

Garage floors are heavily abused surfaces. They get stained with dirt and motor oil, and are marred-up by the heat of your car’s hot tires. Garage floor coatings are designed to enhance the look and value of your garage, while providing a tough, long – lasting and easy to clean surface.

The Difference of the Right System.

Coatings come in all kinds of quality levels, starting at the “Do-It-Yourself” grade found at the big box stores to commercial grade products installed by professional coating contractors.

Epoxy floor coatings are designed to be a sacrificial barrier between the concrete substrate and the elements in your garage that are harmful to it (i.e. tire traffic, road salt, gasoline and oil leaks, etc.) the thicker the coating the longer your protection barrier will last. Typical epoxy kits sold at Big Box stores will have a film thickness of approximately 1.5 mils per coat versus a professional grade product with a thickness anywhere from 3.0 – 30.0 mils per coat, at least double the film thickness.

The difference in thickness has to do with the volume solids in the can. The more solids by volume your coating contains, the thicker the final coating will be. Professional grade products will contain anywhere from 65%-100% solids by volume, providing a much thicker coating for your protective surface.

The right preparation is key

It’s common knowledge that the longevity of any painting project is predicated on how well you prepare the surface. This is true in the case of garage floors even more so than in most situations because of the amount of abuse the surface takes.

A great garage floor installation doesn’t happen by accident. It takes careful surface preparation. Some companies just sweep your floor before application. Others power wash. There are those that use a surface de-greaser. And a few will acid etch the concrete. Its better than no preparation at all, but not effective.

Painters Paint grinds every floor to eliminate surface contaminants and expose the pores of the concrete below. This assures a positive bond between the chosen coating and the concrete. It also provides a perfectly level surface, free of blemishes.
